Boost Mobile
Have switched to the Telstra powered Boost mobile, change over of my existing phone number was completed within a couple of hours. Things to be aware of about the service Data rollover is only available for monthly plans not the 12 & 6 month plans. If you recharge before end date of your current plan then you will lose the remaining days. Recharge period is taken from the day you recharge. Other than these i have found them to be very good.

Aldi mobile phone card review
With mobile data and phone coverage still a big issue in Australia, especially for the traveller, I was intrigued by the latest offering from Aldi into the world of mobiles. The most interesting part of there offering to me was there partnership with Telstra, and there 3G network. So with this in mind and the fact that I needed a cheap sim to test my new pocket wifi I thought it might be helpful to post my findings. As with all of these pay as you go deals it is best to read there information for yourselves before committing. The initial setup is as follows. The starter pack costs $5…

Hotsion Hot-V9
Hotsion Hot-V9 Portable 3G wireless In perpetration for my upcoming holiday, I decided that I needed to find a way to try and beat the hotels and there ripoff rates for wifi. So I am going to get a 3G data card and use that instead. For this to be effective I needed a way to share it via wifi between my devices, as well as being able to copy my photos and video to a backup hard drive. After doing some research this little device looks like it will fit the bill and mine arrived today. The Hotsions interesting features are. 1. Wifi specs are b,g,n 2. Has a…

Welcome to the dark side
Yes the tussle between Microsoft and Apple has been blurred even further with the buying of my iPad 2.After years of resisting I have been persuaded to shell out some cash, which in some part is due to Microsofts lack of competing products. Even Android has more interesting offerings in this market space which really shows how Microsoft has basically given up to date. The main deciding factor in the end was the overwhelming amount of apps Apple has been able to accumulate, there really does seem to be an “App for that” and after spending my first week with my new iPad 2 I have to say I am very…

Front Fence
Current ongoing project is my front fence, I have decided that a wooden picket fence would be a worthy addition so construction started early April. fence has been going well and is close to completion although changes in the design has seen an under estimation of pickets so work has currently stopped while new pickets are bought and then painted. Considering the early winter temperatures are not really conducive to painting things may take a little longer than first though. Below is a link on the progress so far. Fence is 17 meters long and there is about 160 pickets.

Patio Enclosing
Thought i would upload some photos of my recent project of enclosing my patio end with Laserlite. I have removed the tired wooden lattice that was here when I bought my place and created a new wall including a new lockable door which has been covered with the wind and water proof cladding. It is amazing the temperature difference now that the area is wind proofed I have seen a 4 deg difference between inside to out on my temperature gauges.

Commodore SV6 review
In order to get home, I had to hire a car from Wagga Wagga, the car i got was a new 2010 Commodore SV6 sedan. So i thought i would give a quick review. Good Points Quite a powerful responsive engine Very Comfortable Large boot space i got all of my gear from the jeep into it without a problem. Amazing fuel economy, i covered the 600 klm to home on 57 litres of full and still had 1/4 of a tank left. Bad points Has a big blind spot in the side window frame, the car has a curtain air bag and this makes viewing to the right front…

What do you get when you cross a jeep with a roo – No Winners
This morning on my way home from Qld at 1.30 am, half way between Forbes and West Wylong the unthinkable happened. Yes the above question was tested when an adult grey kangaroo jumped from the side of the road straight into the path of my jeep. Unfortunately this resulted in an no winners all round. After bring the car to a stop the clouds of steam coming from the front signalled that i would be going no further under my own steam. Fortunately i was able to contact my insurance agency and they arranged a tow truck to come out for me. The unfortunate thing was i had to wait…
